In a significant update for aged care providers across Australia, it was announced at the Ageing in Australia VIC Conference today that the implementation of the new Aged Care Quality Standards has been postponed. Originally set to take effect on July 1, 2025, the new commencement date is now November 1, 2025.
This decision provides the sector with additional time to prepare for the biggest compliance shift in recent history, a shift that places older Australians’ rights and person-centred care at the core of aged care delivery.
At Governa.ai, we understand the pressure that providers, managers, and care workers have been under as they navigate these changes. While the extra time comes as a welcome reprieve, it also reinforces the need for early preparation.
What does this mean for aged care providers?
- More time to review and update internal policies and procedures
- Greater opportunity for staff training and change management
- Time to invest in digital tools and systems that make compliance achievable and stress-free
With Governa’s AI-powered compliance platform, we’re helping providers get ahead, not just by the deadline, but beyond it. From gap analysis to evidence mapping, we’re here to support your transition to the new standards with confidence.
